20111105 095356 Angry Birds ObsessionAm I the only one that thinks Angry Birds is boring? At times it feels like I’m in my own little world on this one. I personally don’t understand what the obsession with this game is. The original Angry Birds and other titles like, Angry Birds Seasons and Rio have been in the iTunes top list longer than any other game.

I can no longer go anywhere without seeing Angry Birds. They’re on multiple commercials, their plush dolls are all over stores and plaguing vending machines.

The game itself is incredibly simple, yet addictive to most at the same time. The game runs smooth and the physics have been tuned to perfection. The mechanics of the game are simple to understand, easy to pick up and play and great for a quick 5 minutes while waiting to get your Starbucks. It is a perfect recipe. Given all of that though, I don’t see how it’s kept the top spot for so long. You would think it would get to a point where everyone owns the game and people would stop downloading it. You would think that, but it doesn’t appear to be the case.

I’m not going to say I hate the game; I’ve found myself on multiple occasions trying to best my previous high score or doing what I can to get all the stupid eggs. After having it on my phone for a mere couple weeks, I grew tired of the game. Nothing changed, just more ugly greens pigs and a new board to throw pissed off birds at them with. Having grown tired of the game, it’s been removed from my devices.

The success of the game and future titles to come as a result, will make sure the world will never forget it’s presence. It literally has changed the world. It’s laid a foundation for app developers In the future to gauge success by. I think the only game that will ever be more popular than Angry Birds will, be Angry Birds 2: Pigs Get Pissed.

I await future titles to come out. I will most likely be clicking to purchase them. I will simply never understand the cult phenomenon that has come into our world as a result of this game. I salute the creator and wish him the best in his future endeavors on taking over the world. How about making a musical while you’re doing it?

That’s my odd thought today.
